Source Control by David Walsh
A little while back my partner and I picked up a little gem of an ebook.
We have become really cynical and are hesitant to pick up anything that we come across unless it specifically addresses something that we are in desperate need to learn.
Source Control is the title of this little gem.
One of our business partners calls it “a bible”. Huge claims but it delivers on that. It will begin to get you thinking differently.
I have heavily recommended John Jonas’ system for finding someone to hire from the Phillipines. The Replace Myself system even goes as far to give you the training for your virtual assistant.
The fact remains that will likely find yourself in a corner and not know how to effectively map out the processes you want to unload NOW!
David Walsh does a marvelous job convincing the hesitant on going overseas to outsource those tasks that you do not care to do. I did not need to be convinced, yet it was a good refresher as to why we need to leverage this opportunity.
The tone of David’s writing kept me engaged and laughing at times.
The beauty of Source Control lies in the great explanation on how to unpack those processes that are eating up our time. He even gives a great illustration of how to outsource installing wordpress. In the example he walks you through the process of unpacking and mapping the entire process.
Although this may seem trivial and many of us can now do this in our sleep, it is not something we as entrepreneurs should be doing.
Most of the content in the ebook is targeted towards hiring individuals on as needed basis. He goes as far as to give you documents you can use to screen the applicants.
Since reading the ebook(in a day) I have destroyed my current training system and project management system. I am now rebuilding it to more methodical.
I have already completed an entire “workspace” in my project management system (opengoo) complete with milestones, screen capture videos, and all the needed information to be able to have anyone fulfill.
David Walsh has reinvigorated me on outsourcing and how to do it more effectively. My virtual assistant only is able to do what I give her, and ultimately it is all my responsibility to train her well and keep her motivated.
So go check out Source Control now and let me know what you think.
To your success,
teevee
